There aren't many French towns capable of hosting international ski competitions. In Val-d'isère, the World Cup returns every year, and with it the best in the sport. So it's not hard to imagine that this is quite simply one of Europe's most prestigious resorts. Perched at an altitude of 1850 metres in the Vanoise massif, it boasts almost 80 pistes, stretching over some 300 kilometres. It's a veritable paradise for winter sports fans. But those who prefer the hedonistic pleasures of discovering the region and its local specialities will not be disappointed. Haute-Savoie's reputation is partly written here, whether for its gastronomic treasures or its architectural heritage. Wonderful restaurants and authentic mountain buildings are scattered all over the snowy slopes, particularly in the hamlet of La Mourra, where the chalet is located. Its traditional look is deceptive, because behind the appearance of an old Alpine refuge, it conceals some wonderful surprises. There's a spa in the basement, with an indoor swimming pool, sauna, steam room and massage room. A lift takes you to the top floor, where you'll find a real cinema, and then to the top floor, where you'll find the living room. A vast room with massive beams running through it, where the living room, dining room and kitchen are open to each other and arranged around a superb fireplace. The region's king material, wood is used on the walls, floors and ceilings, including in the bedrooms. Beautiful suites with en suite bathrooms and luxurious, delicate and deliciously comfortable bedding. Quality of sleep is very important here, and we take great care to preserve it. It takes energy to discover all that Val-d'Isère has to offer, and this Savoyard village demands a lot of it.
